Jerilyn Kolbin, a Pioneer Valley artist, will be showing a collection of her art work at the Deerfield Gallery, 14 South Main Street, Deerfield, Ma during the month of February 2010.
Kolbin first emerged into the public art world in 2003 when she, along with other artists began a cooperative art gallery in Greenfield, MA. From there, she has continued to show her work frequently throughout New England and has sold nationally. As a self-taught artist, she readily studies art history, style and technique from books, courses and other artists. She is also involved in many critique and painting groups, and works at her art daily in her home studio.
The work on display at the Deerfield Gallery represents her seven year journey of exploration with all she has learned, while at the same time, successfully culminating in a style uniquely her own. She has come to realize, that although there are many “rules”, each piece is best realized when she lets her intuition be her guide. Viewers of her work often comment on the honesty of emotion portrayed, stating that each piece is genuine and truly from the heart.
This show is what she considers a compilation of ‘round one’ in her growing career. From here, she is eager to begin new directions, building on the strengths she has already established, while at the same time exploring frontiers of her own design—ones that root back to her first experience with paint at an easel in the back of her first grade classroom—the impetus to her life long passion of paint.
The Deerfield Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday, 9:30-5:30 and Saturday 9:30-1:00.
